University Flashmob was an assessed university event. We chose the groups we were in - I was in a group of 4. We decided to conduct two separate Flashmobs, on both the University campus'. The aim of the event was to give the students of Falmouth and Exeter University a three minute stress relieving outlet during deadline and exam time. Another aim was to promote student welfare services, which was done by handing out merchandise during the Flashmob, which we sourced through negotiations with student welfare services, as well as a post-event video. Both flashmob dances were filmed professionally then edited. The footage was then posted on social media to reach the wider student community and further promote awareness of student welfare and the services they provide.

I was in charge of sourcing the dancers and liaising with them throughout the preparation period. During rehearsals I believe I demonstrated my creative strengths when conversing about the aesthetics of the dance in relation to the chosen venue. I was also responsible for generating a facebook page for the promotion of the flashmob and student services. Managing the page and monitoring the stats was a valuable lesson in how to maximise viewer engagement through the use of SEO content, and strategic planning when sharing posts on the page.

The event was a success with the Facebook page surpassing the teams expectations in terms of engagement. I learnt a lot about promotion from a post-event perspective, the skills of which are transferable to future events.
