Date: November 2014
Frozen at Christmas was a documentary filmed by a production company called Rondo who were working for Channel Four. They filmed a flashmob style performance of one of Frozen's most popular songs, Let It Go, which was then screened on Christmas Day in a programme examining the success of the animated film. Many University students were involved, with event management students helping with the filming and music and theatre students coordinating the main performance.
This was a very different and exciting experience for me as it was an event for television, something which I had not been involved with previously. My main role throughout the day was to act as steward for crowd control. As frozen is a very successful production, it attracted a lot of attention from locals, especially the children. Therefore crowd control was essential so as the filming would look as professional as possible.
I thought the day was very well organised and the stewards were fully briefed and informed of the running order. I was able to observe how a film crew manages a location, which was invaluable to me as this is something that I am keen to go into in the future. I also enhanced my crowd control skills, essential to an event managers repertoire.
