Key Roles: Leisure Assistant
Location: Maneporth, Falmouth

Maenporth is an Estate holding 90 privately owned holiday homes set in 29 acres of mature gardens and woodland, just up from Maenporth beach. The owners and holiday makers can enjoy exclusive use of the leisure facilities including a heated indoor pool, spa pool, sauna, and all weather tennis courts.
Over the summer and throughout my final year of university I have worked as a leisure assistant at Maenporth Estate. My main roles include working on reception, lifeguarding and maintaining a cleanly environment for the users of the centre. Here I have been able to utilise my knowledge of the leisure industry to my advantage, allowing me to quickly become a vital member of the team. (I have previously worked as a lifeguard in a private sports club in London.)
Through my various duties I have learnt a lot about the normal operating procedures including the opening and shut down of the centre; monitoring chlorine levels; which chemicals to use for cleaning the pool and changing rooms; how to converse over the phone in a professional manner whilst on reception and many more.
Maenporth is run by a small team of staff; Estate Director, Account manager, Estate manager, 2 Gardeners and 3 members of staff. I prefer working in this kind of work environment, as it allows me to know the team well, which I believe creates stronger team work skills.
